Steak Knives – Cut Steak Cleanly at the Table

A good steak deserves a good knife. Blunt table knives tear and squash meat, while a sharp steak knife slices through cleanly and keeps the juices in the steak.

Our steak knives are sharp, comfortable and look the part on the table.

What is a steak knife?

A steak knife is a small, sharp table knife designed for cutting cooked meat. Blades are usually 10–12cm long and may be straight-edged or serrated.

Why choose steak knives?

  • Clean cuts: a sharp edge slices through meat without tearing the fibres.
  • Better table manners: no sawing, no struggling, no squashed steak.
  • Multi-purpose: great for chops, chicken, pizza and firm vegetables.
  • Good looking: a matching set lifts any dinner table.

How to choose the right knife

Straight or serrated. Straight edges give the cleanest cut and are easy to resharpen. Serrated edges stay sharp longer but can shred meat slightly.

Handle feel. Look for a comfortable, secure grip.

Set size. Sets of 4 or 6 are common. Match the number to how many people you serve.

Presentation. A gift box suits presents.

How to use it

  1. Hold the knife with your index finger along the spine for control.
  2. Use long, gentle strokes rather than pressing down.
  3. Cut against the grain for the most tender bite.

Caring for your knife

  • Hand wash steak knives to protect the edge and handles, and dry straight away.
  • Avoid the dishwasher, which can dull the edge and damage handles.
  • Store it safely in a knife storage solution such as a block, magnetic strip or sheath.
  • Use a wooden or bamboo board. See our cutting and cheese boards.
